Ted Schilowitz, Futurist, Paramount Pictures 







Ted spends his time and pursues his passion in a unique role in the motion picture entertainment industry. As the Futurist at Paramount pictures, Ted works with studio leadership and the technology teams at Paramount / Viacom/CBS, exploring forms of new and emerging technologies, with an emphasis on Virtual and Mixed Reality. Prior to joining Paramount, Ted was the Futurist at 20th Century Fox, where he worked on the evolving art, science and technology of advanced interactive visual storytelling. He was part of the creation team for the Martian VR and Wild VR experiences, which premiered at CES and Sundance as groundbreaking projects that pushed the envelope of Virtual Reality storytelling, In addition, Ted was part of the creation teams for the Alien, Planet of the Apes and Predator VR experiences at Fox, and at his current home at Paramount Pictures, he’s been instrumental in bringing the Grease Mixed Reality experience, the Light as a Feather mixed reality experience and the Quiet Place Virtual Reality experience to life. Ted was an integral part of the product development team at Red Digital Cinema as the company’s first employee. The Red One and Epic cameras have made a significant impact on the Motion Picture Industry, winning a scientific and technical academy award. Many of the world’s biggest movies are now being shot with these ultra high resolution digital movie cameras. Ted is one of the founders and creators of the G-Tech product line of advanced hard drive storage products. As one of the most recognized brands in that industry, they are implemented worldwide at the highest levels on cinema, episodic television, sports and news production. In his role as Chief Creative Officer at Barco Escape, he spearheaded an experimental immersive cinema project for movie theaters worldwide. Titles include Paramount Pictures Star Trek Beyond and 20th Century Fox Maze Runner & Maze Runner 2. Before being part of the founding teams at Red Digital Cinema and G-Tech, Ted was on the team that developed and launched the Macintosh desktop video division of AJA Video Systems, creating professional video products in tandem with Apple. These products are used on a massive scale worldwide for video production and post at the highest levels, on many of the world’s biggest movies, TV series and sporting events. Ted has presented worldwide at numerous conferences on the advancements in next generation visual experiences for the movie, television and, interactive entertainment industries. He’s been featured in Wired, Variety, NY Times, LA Times, Wall Street Journal, Fast Company, The Hollywood Reporter, NBC, CNET, Studio Daily, Videography, Film and Video, DV Magazine, TV Technology, HD Video Pro, Engadget, Gizmodo, Millimeter, American Cinematographer, MacWorld, Post Magazine, Popular Science, and countless other publications discussing his areas of passion and exploration. In 2019, Ted was honored at the Variety Hall of Fame event with the Variety Innovation Award.

Jim Goss, CFA 
Managing Director and Senior Research Analyst, Barrington Research Associates

Jim Goss joined Barrington Research in 1998 as Vice President and Senior Research Analyst within the Equity Research group. His research focus is within the Media and Entertainment sectors, specializing in niches that primarily include content & distribution, digital media, and theatrical exhibition. Previously, he was with Nesbitt Burns Securities from 1996 to 1997 as a research analyst, covering media and consumer-related companies. Prior to this, he served as a research analyst with Duff & Phelps from 1972 to 1996 in the areas of retail & consumer, oil services and media. Mr. Goss has nearly 40 years of investment experience, and is a four-time winner of The Wall Street Journal’s “Best on the Street” analyst survey. He continues to make frequent press/media appearances for local, regional and national outlets. Mr. Goss holds an MBA in Finance and Accountancy from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and an honors BA in Mathematics from Lewis University. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.

Lori Mahoney Brooks

Katherine Barnett
Senior Vice President, Human Resources, Hearst Television

Katherine Barnett was promoted in 2019 to senior vice president of human resources for Hearst Television after having served as vice president of human resources for Hearst Television since June 2013. She joined the company in 2012 as senior director of human resources. She oversees the company’s efforts in the areas of recruiting, personnel management and employee relations, and has significantly expanded the company’s efforts in the areas of diversity and military recruitment. Previously, Barnett served as human resources director for the Institute for Systems Biology. Before that, she served for more than four years as human resources manager for Hearst’s Seattle Post-Intelligencer and as acting HR manager for Hearst Seattle Media (Seattlepi.com). Prior to her work in Seattle, she served for more than nine years as a human resources specialist for Hearst’s Houston Chronicle and, going back further, as program coordinator for the YMCA of downtown Houston. Among her volunteer activities, Barnett has served on the board of the Seattle Society for Human Resource Management and in Houston as a Young Life leader. Barnett holds a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from Texas A&M University and a senior professional in human resources certification from the Human Resource Certification Institute.

John Sanders
Principal, Bond & Pecaro

John S. Sanders is a Principal and Founder of Bond & Pecaro, Inc., a Washington, DC based consulting firm specializing in valuations, asset appraisals, and related financial services for the media and communications industries. Prior to the formation of Bond & Pecaro in 1986, Mr. Sanders was Manager, Appraisal Group, with Frazier, Gross & Kadlec, Inc. He worked for that firm in various analytical and managerial positions between 1982 and 1986. Mr. Sanders has been active in the MFM for over 20 years. He is a frequent speaker at the Media Finance Focus conference and a regular contributor to the MFM’s The Financial Manager magazine. Additionally, he serves on the MFM’s Editorial Advisory Board as well as its Newspaper Committee. Mr. Sanders has been actively involved in both fair market valuations and asset appraisals of over 3,000 communications, media, and related businesses. His clients range from the largest publicly traded companies in the country to small family-owned businesses. He has been qualified as an expert in valuation matters in venues including the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York, the Court of Chancery of the State of Delaware, and the American Arbitration Association. He is a member of the American Society of Appraisers and holds the Accredited Senior Appraiser (“ASA”) designation in the specialty of business valuation. Mr. Sanders received a B.A. Cum Laude in Economics and International Studies (Honors) from Dickinson College. He also holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia.
